So I recently had a chance to talk to Patrick Giannaccini, Big Swings sponsored Athlete and Content Creator. Here’s what he had to say about his extreme lifestyle.
Tell us what you have been up to?
Getting all kinds of upside down….and wet. Cliff jumping and Camping. Planning adventure and meeting new people. Life has been crazy recently.
How did you get involved with Big Swings?
I reached out to big swings on instagram and invited them to a trip I had planned up the east coast and they were game. It was a trip of a lifetime and I will never forget it. Since that trip we’ve been steady hucking.
Are you just a Cliff Jumper or do you film as well?
I am multitalented. Now days I lean towards jumping but I’ve have had a camera in my hand for much longer. I used to be an avid bird photographer, I don’t have as much time for that now, but it was a great place to start.
What type of camera do you use?
Canon 6d and gopro 4 black.
Do you have a website or page we can see your personal Photography?
Well, my jumping Instagram is @GatrickPianaccinni
and my Photography instagram is @Patrickgiannacciniphotography.
What’s your favorite swimming hole on the Big Swings
Thats a tough question because there are so many great spots on the Big Swings App that I have yet to explore. But out of the… probably 60 spots I’ve hit, shit, I don’t know. It would have to be between Coppermine and Adams Falls.
You just went to the Dominican Republic with on the annual Big Swings DR Trip correct?
Hands down best trip I have ever been on in so many ways. My girlfriend Dinah and I were able to experience the Dominican like not many Americans get to. The guide company Big Swings is linked with was amazing. The trip was packed with adventure and completely cultured. We experienced the Dominican like very few get to. We did canyoneering, white water rafting, we stayed in a treehouse on a mountain peak, umm… we rode horses to Waterfall Cliff Jumping…I mean there was so much more, let’s just say I didn’t know it was possible to get that much unique adventure into a week. They were called Adventuresque.
Are there any secret projects you are working on?
Nothing too secretive, but I know Big Swings is doing a month in an RV on the West Coast this summer and I am excited about that. Can’t wait to get out there and send it with so many of the people I have linked up with over social media.
What tricks do you like the most thus far?
I love FAT DIVES!
Laid out gainer.
I’d have to say my first Inward Front Flip was a milestone. I had been wanting that trick for a long time. I’m really proud of my 52′ hand entry dive from Adams Falls as well.
That’s a big face first dive Pat. Why?
Thanks. haha! I dive because the rush is Next Level. There is no feeling like it.
(Big Swings does not condone head first dives from any height over eight feet unless you are professionally trained. We tell Pat not to do it every time but he just goes Beast Mode anyway.)
80 foot + gainer, 60 foot + headfirst dive( I’m up to 53 feet), double gainer.
What does your family or significant other think about your need to “send it”?
My mom hates it but she does’nt try to stop me. My girlfriend is getting better at accepting my lifestyle choice. She knows we are safe, and she knows when I’m with the Big Swings team I am surrounded by people watching out for my safety. So that goes a long way.
What kind of safety precautions do you take when you’re diving off of waterfalls and coastal cliffs?
I always check to see how deep the water is and if there are any rocks or debries in the landing zone. I also wear an impact vest for extra safety as well. This way if something were to happen to me on impact I would float and be easily saved. Rather than sinking- one of the leading causes of deaths in this outdoor recreation, I float. I always have a spotter in the water wearing a Kingii as well.
What can we expect to see in 2017?
Big ol’ fatty gainers and dives. I think I’m going to be getting into editing as well.
Anything you’d like to say?
Yeah, I want to thank my friends and family for allowing me, and pushing me to chase me dreams. And I’d like to thank Big Swings for all thier help and for providing an awesome tool for the adventure community, the Big Swings App.

~How Big Swings Met Patrick Gianiccinni~
We linked up with Patrick last year on his annual “Man Trip” throughout the New England area. He had set up a trip to all of the best jumping locations in the North East using the Big Swings App- and he invited us along. We jumped cliffs through Vermont, New Hampshire and New York. Pat’s dedication to the sport and finding locations is almost unparalleled. He is constantly motivated to explore new swimming holes and send new cliffs. Pats excitement and enthusiasm for life and travel are truly inspiring. We are excited to have him join the Big Swings Family.
